The Family Tree, an International Genealogical Publication, sponsors an Annual Newsletter Contest. Winners were announced in the June/July 1999 issue. There are many categories and all that enter come away with honorable mention at least. As there is not sufficient space to reprint the entire article, this is the section that applies to our award.

"...The Scottish Clan Publications (Newsletter Format) First Prize was won by The Clan Lindsay Recorder, Marty Thurmond, editor. Second Place was won by The Maharg, Clan Graham of the West, Alice Stevenson, editor. Third Place was won by The Merito, Clan Dunlop/Dunlap Family Society, Joann Grano, editor. Fourth Place honors went to The Dean Road, Newsletter of the Boyd Family, Elizabeth Doolittle, editor..."

Elizabeth had carried the job, as a visiting editor, for Richard G. Boyd while he was having problems with his hands. She published three issues on behalf of the Society and submitted a sample to the contest.
