The Convenor for North Carolina, Joyce Kight, is pleased to announce that there will be a House of Boyd Tent at 28th Annual Loch Norman Highland Games to be held April 8-10, 2022 near Huntersville, NC and Grandfather Mountains Highland Games, July 7-10, 2022 in Linville, NC.

The Loch Norman Highland Games at Rural Hill is a family friendly event presented by Historic Rural Hill. Come join in the fun with Highland Dancing, Bagpipe Bands, Highland Athletics, Scottish Merchants, Celtic Rock and Traditional Performers, Historic Reenactments, Scottish Country Dancing, Sunday Church Service, Hearth Cooking, Whiskey Tastings, Kilted Running Events, Scottish Clan Societies, Shoot Long Bows, Blowguns, Battle Axe throwing.

The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games is a four day event starting on Thursday evening, July 7th with the torchlight ceremony. The busiest day is Saturday, but Friday-Sunday is packed with activities and fun, including: the Scottish Cultural Village, Donald’s Gaelic Ceilidh Tent where you can learn easy-to-say expressions in the Gaelic language, Scottish fiddle-competition, and The Clarsach competition. The Clarsach is the ancient word for the small (non-pedal) harp. There’s also The Bear – foot race up the hill to the top of Grandfather Mountain and the Marathon Race along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Competitive Spirit continues for the Clans with the Tug-of-War on Sunday.

MacRae Meadows on Grandfather Mountain will become a pageant of color at 11:30 AM on Sunday when more than 1,000 marchers clad in Scottish attire and representing over 100 clans and societies, march around the track in the annual “Parade of Tartans.”
