Hi, I'm descended from William Finnie and Ann Boyd who were born in Kilmarnock in the 1700s. Interestingly, when my ancestor emigrated to Australia from England in 1855, he carried both names - he was John Boyd Finnie. He didn't name his son Boyd, but his granddaughter (my great-grandmother) named her son William John Boyd Morris. It seemed to be common practice in the family from William down, to add the Boyd name. Anyway, it's a proud history to have, yes? Cheers. Lynne
